Bright, mouth-watering flavors of juicy watermelon are highlighted by hints of minerality and a soft yet crisp finish. The 2022 Sonoma County Rosé is a lovely shade of pale salmon with aromas of floral, tutti-frutti bubblegum and fresh watermelon. A small portion of the wine is fermented and aged in neutral oak barrels. The components were fermented separately at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks. Whole cluster pressed with minimal skin contact. Truly one of the BEST ros wines Ive ever drank - canned or otherwise. We source from select vineyards including parts of our Single Vineyard program, and the final blend is comprised of six varietals produced from six sub-appellations within the Sonoma County AVA. We strive vintage to vintage to produce that same crisp and zesty rosé style that we just can’t get enough of. The deliciousness and ensuing popularity of this wine has been phenomenal year after year. And can you ask them if they taste blood, too? Because I'm worried about myself now.For our 2022 vintage, we decided to shift our vineyard sourcing to Sonoma County and expand the palette of varietals we work with for Banshee Rosé. Should I bring it to a friend's house? Bring it to their BBQ. A great value for $10!" But apparently I'm the only one tasting blood. We would pair it with cheese and crackers, Caesar salad, grilled chicken, or sushi. A very versatile summer picnic/barbecue wine. It is also refreshing and mouthwatering with faint apricot and sour cherry flavors. The nose was fresh with notes of sour cherry and ripe melon with a hint of oak. What do smarter people say about it? Stuart and Karen of Ken's Wine Guide (Ken must have been off that week?) also really liked it: "A deep pink peach color. Who's responsible for this? "Vinted & Bottled by Dark Horse Wines, Modesto, CA" What the Wine Idiot says: I don't know why they didn't mention blood. Our California Limited Release Rosé boasts a refreshingly dry style that explodes with flavors of fresh red fruit, subtle minerality and a hint of floral-all racing toward a bright, crisp finish. What the bottle says: "Here's to Dark Horses everywhere. ![]() Other than this might be one of my favorite rosés of all time, notes of blood and all. Yeah, that review was all over the map, wasn't it? Don't know what to tell you. But it does have that sort of sweet/metallic tinge? Somehow it's also a little floral-"not like lavendar," I wrote in my notes, "more like rose-water." That's probably the grossest sentence I've ever written and I'm sorry you had to read that. This is gonna sound super weird.but it kind of tastes like blood. Don't get me wrong, there's a sweetness, but it flashes away in a split second and your mouth is refreshed with a tart, mineral-y, raspberry-y finish. Yes, I tasted strawberries right away, but through a pleasant lime-y minerality. SUPER GOOD CHOICE! Patting myself on the back right now. On this particular day, it was the "Limited Release" Dark Horse Rosé. So I solved my own dilemma by picking something I've never seen at TJ's. Like, I just can't buy that bottle because I know that's two of my hard-earned dollars going straight into Ralph's profits. Second, it absolutely KILLS me to see a bottle of wine they carry at TJ's for sale at Ralph's for a couple dollars more. First, it means I have to go pick a wine instead of just taking whatever they have, and I hate making decisions. This is always difficult for me, for a couple reasons. I found myself at Ralph's wanting wine, but there was no wine on this particular Ralph's clearance rack. ![]() The clouds were coming in, and I was knee-deep in the tidal marsh, photographing the horses. You could feel the pressure drop, and the air got a strange quality of humidity and static. While out on an island, photographing wild horses, a maritime thunderstorm blew in. Rescheduling meant all my trips were now back to back, so the lens got tested in all manner of conditions, from the salty sandy beaches, to photographong wild horses, to the mountains of New England for alpine wildlife. I was able to reschedule, and that is where the fun began. ![]() Two back-to-back hurricanes completely ruined my plans. Next I had plans to take it on assignment with me, and then, disaster struck, literally. A few fawns in tall grass were a good test, and the lens accurately picked the fawn over the blades of swaying grasses. With the rut about to begin, I went hiking where I hoped to see deer and caught a gorgeous young buck crossing the river. With many trails near home, I was able to test it on some birds and local wildlife like deer and squirrels. So, what adventures were had with this beast of a lens? Well, first off, I took the lens around locally just to get a feel for it. It would totally work as a handle, but I am spoiled by the grip of a tripod foot with indents for your hand. The Sigma TS-81 Lens Foot for 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sport Lens is much longer, but it still has the same flat design, no finger indents. I did some digging and saw that Sigma offers an optional replacement foot for purchase. I use the tripod foot as a handle, and the older, much longer version even has finger indents for this exact use. As an avid hand-holder for my gear, the tripod foot is much smaller than that of my older Sigma 50-500mm. This is a nitpick for sure, as it has nothing to do with the stellar optics but rather the design of the exterior. In using the Sigma 150-600mm for several months, the only part that I wished I could change was the included tripod foot. Sigma took note of how much of a valuable tool telephoto lenses are for us and added so many ways to adjust and tweak the lens to suit your specific needs. ![]() The luxury of the customizable zoom and AFL buttons felt great. It also has some extra features that photographers may enjoy including a zoom torque switch to customize the zoom resistance, OS mode switch, focus limiter, and three customizable AFL buttons. My favorite aspects of the Sigma 150-600mm lens are that its compact size allows it to easily fit in my carry on camera backpack, it has the versatility of the zoom, and the weight is hand-holdable, with the backup of a strong optical stabilizing system. What I Enjoyed Most About the Sigma 150-600mm Lens Precise gear like this can be the difference between getting the shot or missing a key moment. The Sigma 150-600mm quickly picks up targets and in my camera's continuous mode, which is my go-to for birds in flight or wild horses, the autofocus stayed locked onto the subject. Sigma has completely overhauled the lens, and the “redesigned autofocus system offers both speed and precision by incorporating an AF actuator driven by a stepping motor, as well as a high-precision magnetic sensor.” As someone who has used both lenses, I can feel the difference in the speed. The new Sigma 150-600mm is a huge upgrade from my old 50-500mm.

The bag may be secured to the can with any type of equipment straps- both mess tin and tornister types work fine. This works wonders in silencing the rattles. The gas sheet bag may be packed with either a gas sheet, or simply an old rag, hand towel, etc. Field use recommendation: From personal experience I recommend wearing a gas sheet bag on the canister (shown in the last photo.) By nature, these cans are noisy- they clank and rattle against the other gear and are constant source of noise pollution- which is highly undesirable in the field. Therefore, the problem is within macOS, but when I contacted Apple Support, they told me they can't help me since the mouse wasn't made by Apple. This is one of my top ten books of all time for lifelong contemplation. BTW - some reviews mention chapter ordering issues that seem to have been fixed. Some may find the folksiness a bit slow and boring, try speeding it up. The writing and narration is quite clear, folksy, and pleasant, and far from the exuberance of some books in this genre. Of course doing all the things the author suggests is non-trivial, but they are generally good suggestions for making progress once you are committed to change. This does not mean an abundance of stuff, but noticing that many situations are not zero-sum, and that win-win net-positive situations are often, if not almost always, possible. This system goes beyond having a "open mindset" to having an "abundance mindset". It is more realistic than most self-help books and does not promise a quick fix, or riches, or power, it instead suggests an effective pattern for somewhat steady improvement. The Seven Habits (plus the new eighth one) are: Be Pro-Active, Set Goals, Prioritize, Think Win-Win, Listen, Synergize, Maintain, & Inspire This list seems a bit trite, but the author takes care to build each concept upon another. Mostly it is detailed, ordered, steps to, over time, improve your effectiveness. There is a tiny bit of faith-based stuff in the afterward, but it strives to be any-god-will-do. I generally find the self help genre weak and I expected this title to be one more christian based positive thinking book. I really did not expect to like this book. I just wish they'd hired a professional to read it. ![]() But there can be a solid approach to controlling our lives, and that's what this book is all about. We are dealing with human emotions, and there's nothing rational about emotions. ![]() We aren't solving sudoku or splitting atoms. But as I've grown and reread the book, I've discovered how deep it goes. The first time I read it I didn't realize how far away from the objective I was. And a lot of people simply are not ready for the implications. It all has to come from within - that is, your character, who you are. The point of this book is that you will never be content in your life if you are looking for contentment OUTSIDE OF your life. And yes, the part about being honest could be seen as morality, but considering the whole point is that honesty is a requirement for having people trust you, it strikes me that many of these negative reviews may be written by people who wanted a quick fix, a set of numerical steps on how to be successful. Now, I guess you could say some parts talk about morality, but not in the sense of "you must love your neighbor" or whatever. But is The Goose That Laid the Golden Egg religious, or even spiritual? Because that's by far the primary principle in the book. He also mentions that all enduring religions AS WELL AS all enduring philosophical systems agree on certain principles of human maturity and interaction, and those are the principles he bases the book on. That takes up approximately 2 sentences in the entire book (though he says a little more in the afterword). He clearly states that he believes in God. Too religious? Irrational? Morality? What book are these people reading? Does the author mention religion? Yes. The only thing annoying in the presentation was that awful little jingle/harmony they played between sections. His voice tone wasn't dreary, was clear and even calming, and I could easily listen to him narrate other of his works. I found Covey's reading to be top-notch though. It came off as a little preachy in parts and while Covey is free to have one, religion doesn't really need to be in this book and all of these principles are 100% achievable without it. ![]() If you dont want to listen to 13 hours of this, Covey summarizes the content on his website, freely available to read through in about 20 minutes. On some occasions though, I feel he made far to much explanation and the end product could have been a much shorter piece of work while still maintaining its effectiveness. What Covey did do well was arrange the principals into an easy to understand framework and relate it to every day life. None the less, the principles covered are important life skills and everyone should learn them from somewhere - which may or may not be this book. Maybe my opinion would be different if I read/listened to this when I was younger and still finding my place in the world. I dont think Covey presented anything life changing and as he admits within this book - he didn't actually invent anything. Quite frankly, I wasn't blown away by this book. ![]() Proof of man's destructive influence offers a sobering reminder that our responsibility toward nature is perpetual, essential, and routinely abused.īlue Planet combines state-of-the-art sound and image, principally directed by Ben Burtt, the Oscar-winning sound designer whose credits include the original Star Wars trilogy.
